There have been some major conservation concerns with Mackerel from the North East Atlantic due to overfishing and thankfully this has been dealt with quite strongly by the UK and EIRE governments and a recovery plan is underway. This mackerel stock however is not concerned, it is a different but 'sister' species of mackerel and there are no issues with the stock levels for this species.
