CHARACTERISTICS

Mackerel reach maturity at 3 years but can live up to 20 years and grow up to 70cm long. They are a fast-swimming species that is related to Tuna. They grow quite fast and the female will spawn a large quantity of eggs.

In our waters, Mackerel are found from the Iberian coast all the way up to the North Sea, North of Scotland. This variety is known as Spanish Mackerel or Scomber Japonicus.
