Anchovy or anchovy-type fish are a member of the herring family and found in the ocean in coastal areas in large shools all around the world. They are small, growing up to 10/15cm long and can accept less salty waters, even entering lagoons and estuaries, often to spawn. They feed on plankton and are eaten by many other larger fish in the food chain.
