MSC certified kippers - a British tradition

ImageThey have been a traditional part of British breakfasts and high teas for years but like all fish the herring that are smoked to make kippers are facing the pressures of overfishing.

But you can buy delicious kippers from us safe in the knowledge that they have been certified as sustainably fished by the Marine Stewardship Council.  Founder Charles Redfern says: “We know that many people enjoy kippers and they are delicious and really good for you full of proteins, fish fats and vitamins. Our canned smoked kippers in organic sunflower oil can be eaten from the can with salads or baked potatoes, or heated and served with toast for breakfast, or on toast for tea! They are also ideal as an ingredient in all sorts of traditional dishes for example kedgeree with kippers makes a delicious comforting dish for when the weather is bad.” (see kipper kedgeree recipe).

 Charles adds: “We are a company that believes in good value not low value, and we believe in good values too. A change in the economic climate will not change our minds on this and we think most people will see the benefits of buying good food, which can be stored for whenever you need it.”
