| Slow Fish Meeting |
Recently our MD Charles attended Slow Fish which is a fish centred Slow Food event held in Genoa every two years supporting artisanal, traditional fisheries and advocating sustainable resource management alongside the preservation of ancient and traditional methods of fishing and coastal communities. Pictured left to right Charles Redfern, Fish4Ever; Caroline Bennett, Moshi Moshi; Gheeti Singh,Duke of Islington; Malcolm Macgarvin, environmental scientist; Charles Clover, journalist.
Slow Food is about the enjoyment of food, the culture of food and how it forms part of our human and social identity. Values that Caroline and Gheeti, as top restauranters, and Fish4Ever as a brand with high quality processes, ingredients and fishing methods espouse naturally. Above all Slow Food fights for the small artisan producers, farmers, growers and fishermen as well as the incredibly important role they play in maintaining communities; since these are the exact people that are increasingly sidelined and pushed out of business by the process of industrialisation, corporatisation and globalisation, it's important to remember and realise that size and power in and of itself are also issues in the wider debate on sustainability - it's the elephant in the room that is too often ignored.
