Big Tuna Changes

tuna_group.jpgWe have been busy making sure that we have the very best suppliers possible and this has meant big changes with our tuna range - on all three types Skipjack, Albacore and Yellowfin. In Skipjack we've moved from the Maldives to the Azores to work with a very small cannery on the island of Sao Gorge. With Yellowfin and Albacore we now work with tuna that is caught by manned local boats from Senegal and Namibia respectively. All three tuna types are caught by pole and line.

With Africa our dilemma has been along the "trade not aid" lines. We remain absolutely opposed to foreign long distance water fleets exploiting the coastal waters of developing nations, But we also feel that it is important to engage with communally-based fisheries within the context of sustainable development.
