News from Fish4Ever

We were first!! With the big boys now jumping on the pole and line bandwagon, it’s important to remember we led the way in choosing this method of fishing! Also to remind everyone the central point of sustainability is that it is a complete, holistic practise. We are now launching a new multi-pack of skipjack.  We also have a new far cheaper catering size can and finally, we are working on certifying the skipjack factory to organic standards so as to offer skipjack in organic oils. Now that’s progress!

Slow Fish Meeting  Recently our MD Charles attended Slow Fish which is a fish centred Slow Food event held in Genoa every two years supporting artisanal, traditional fisheries and advocating sustainable resource management alongside the preservation of ancient and traditional methods of fishing and coastal communities. Oily Fish - so good! We are always pleased to see positive comments about fish and health and recently has been no exception. Firstly Natural Lifestyle magazine wrote that oily fish is the best way keeping your skin supple and moisturised. Then a recent study in the US (published by the Journal of the American Dietectic Association) has found that a moderate amount of the omega 3 acid found in fish is associated with a 20% reduction in gum disease*. Keep on smiling!

Marine Conservation THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP! We would like to thank everyone who bought Fish4Ever products at the beginning of this month. We raised loads for the Marine Conservation Society Marine Protected Areas campaign - figures on the way. F4E gave 10% of its sales value for one week to the MCS’s campaign for Marine Protected Areas. Check out the MCS site for more fundraising ideas.

MSC Certification!

msc_logo.jpgWe are proud that 70% of our products are MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certified. This includes all our Mackerel, Kippers, Sardines, Herrings and Salmons. The fish that are not yet certified are because we go beyond the MSC certification and therefore have to have more than just sustainability!

By going beyond certification we mean we also consider ethical and environmental issues as well as those of resource theft. That means we sometimes use smaller not yet certified fisheries.
